Steve Betz, senior communication manager of brand management for DuPont Pioneer, will present an overview of how DuPont has successfully moved beyond its long standing reputation as a chemical company to become a recognized leader in food security.  In 2013, DuPont and Ogilvy were recognized with three PRSA Silver Anvil awards for efforts in food security.  The campaign’s cumulative impact on addressing global food security will continue in the months and years ahead, as new partnerships, collaborations and ultimately solutions arise from it.  Following an impressive initial reach, DuPont will push the program forward with a focus on finding local solutions that meet the global food security challenge, as well as supplying other organizations, affiliations and individuals with the resources, knowledge and science needed to overcome this critical challenge.

 Bio:

Steve Betz leads development and execution of global Pioneer brand strategy, brand architecture and positioning. With a direct link to DuPont Strategic Communications, he supports overarching DuPont brand positioning and leads global activities for thought leadership across DuPont food and agriculture businesses.

Steve began at Pioneer in 1992, working in the research labs as a biotechnology research associate. Since this time, he has held a variety of positions in research, marketing and communications departments.  

His educational background includes Bachelor of Arts degrees from Luther College in Biology and French, and an M.B.A. from Drake University.

Regarding parking, “Lot dots” to validate parking will be provided to any board member or luncheon attendee, courtesy of Drake University's Master of Communication Leadership program. This will enable all guests to park free of charge in the Olmsted Parking Lot, just outside of the Olmsted Center. The MCL program will cover this charge for the entire year.
