Event Description

The 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals a world retreating towards insularity. As economic anxiety, geopolitical tension, and technological disruption intensify, people are narrowing their world to smaller, familiar circles that reflect their views, and this hinders economic and societal progress. This year’s report identifies a path forward to restoring trust and rebuilding connection and collaboration across society through Trust Brokering.

Dana Schwartz and Haley Fry, leaders at Edelman’s financial communications boutique, Edelman Smithfield, will join Iowa PRSA’s May meeting for a presentation of this year’s report and discussion of implications for communicators.

Speaker Bios

Dana Schwartz
Dana Schwartz is a senior communications strategist focused on helping financial services brands strengthen their reputations and drive business impact. As an Executive Vice President at Edelman Smithfield in New York, she partners closely with clients and executives to design and execute communications programs that deliver measurable results.​

Dana specializes in earned media, executive visibility, crisis and reputation management, and cross-channel brand storytelling for financial brands. Recent work includes helping a global financial firm grow earned media share of voice by more than 200%, launching a content-first executive thought leadership program for the world’s largest asset manager, and developing a first-of-its-kind creator collaboration for a top ETF brand.​ With over 12 years of experience across three agencies, Dana has built a reputation for excellent client partnership that drives results and leading high-performing agency teams.​

Before joining Edelman, Dana managed corporate communications and media relations programs for financial and healthcare clients at APCO Worldwide. She was recognized as one of the New York Observer’s “10 Most Powerful Young People in PR” in 2017.​

Dana holds a B.A. in Public Relations and Management from Syracuse University. She lives in New Jersey and is a proud Buffalo Bills fan.

Haley Fry
Haley Fry is a Senior Vice President at Edelman Smithfield with a focus on financial services. She specializes in advising global clients in the investment management and insurance industries. Haley’s experience includes leading global media relations and thought leadership campaigns, including the development of the first-ever Principal Global Financial Inclusion Index. ​

She has supported clients including banks such as Northern Trust and William Blair; asset managers including Artisan Partners, Nuveen and Principal Asset Management; insurers including COUNTRY Financial, Lloyd’s of London, Nationwide, Northwestern Mutual and Principal Financial Group; as well as financial trade groups including the Alliance for Lifetime Income and Institute for Portfolio Alternatives. ​She also supports several of the world’s top private capital managers.

Before joining Edelman Smithfield, Haley worked on the communications teams at COUNTRY Financial and Northwestern Mutual. ​She graduated from Marquette University’s Diederich College of Communications with a degree in corporate communications and marketing.
