Presented by Dr. John Opincar, Campus and Academic Director of the Des Moines Campus, of the University of Phoenix
If you are a public relations communicator, how are your math skills? Do you know the language of business? Are you comfortable talking with your CFO or CEO about financials or business issues? Last year, former chapter president Chris Jensen asked our membership, "Why would any business leader want to take advice from someone who readily admits that he or she knows nothing about business or math?"
Speaker Dr. John Opincar will help. He will use his experience as a chief executive, academic, and finance officer to work with attendees to improve their business and math skills and help them brush up on the language of business. This will allow attendees to better understand the business language and to be more effective as they tell their organization's stories to a wider range of audiences.
About Dr. John Opincar
He has held many titles: Chief Executive, Academic, Finance Officer, Visionary, Entrepreneur, Researcher, Author, Leader, and Teacher. He holds a Doctor of Management in Organization Leadership from the University of Phoenix, an MBA Accounting degree from Michigan State University and a BS Accounting degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. He has worked for many companies, of various sizes, in many places including Dallas and Austin, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; and Paris, France. He chooses to call Des Moines his home.
He says: I am a high-energy leader, mentor, and teacher offering multiple decades of business and higher education experience. In the first half of my life, I achieved success. Now, I am making a difference. I lead teams from dysfunction and mediocrity to excellence and high performance. I am skilled at creating and activating innovative solutions to organizational challenges in leadership, culture, talent acquisition and nurturance, vision, mission, governance, and ethics. I mentor and develop new leaders. I teach people how to tap into the excellence within. I am a subject matter expert in adult learning and I look forward to helping members of the Central Iowa Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America improve their math and business skills.
