APR Month

April is APR month. My decision to pursue accreditation through PRSA is one of the best professional choices that I’ve made in my career. In 2015, I resolved to take the next step in my career and work toward earning my APR designation. With the help and support of my family, colleagues and fellow PRSA members, I successfully completed the accreditation process by October 2015. Since earning my APR, I’ve helped other professionals on their accreditation journey by teaching APR prep classes.

Being accredited is more than putting letters behind your name. It shows you have demonstrated proficiency in public relations. It means you’re committed to the profession, follow the PRSA Code of Ethics, continue learning and give back your local Chapter. The professional relationships and friendships that I’ve developed throughout my APR journey have been incredible. We have many successful PR pros in Central Iowa, and we come together to help each other in the APR process.

We are fortunate to have one of the best APR prep programs in the country, as evident by our Chapter’s high percentage of accredited members (top three per capita in North America). If you’re interested in learning more about the APR program, contact our PRSA Iowa accreditation chair Laura Sprague, APR, or accreditation chair-elect Jane Keairns, APR.
