Be Prepared
June 3, 2022
Author: Ryan Johnson, APR
Being a PRSA Delegate means preparing yourself for the annual Leadership Assembly. It requires doing some homework outside of our everyday jobs to ensure we’re representing the Chapter by being educated on the key issues at the annual business meeting.
Expectations
Here’s what is expected of Teresa and me at Leadership Assembly 2022 (borrowed from a PRSA webinar in early June).
- Keep your constituents informed about actions to be taken and represent their interests.
- Identify issues your constituents would like to have discussed.
- Be prepared to present statements/actions on behalf of your constituents on the floor of the Assembly.
- Come prepared on topics to be discussed or actions to be taken.
- Preserve and respect the rights of all members at Leadership Assembly.
- Be present for all votes taken.
2022 Bylaw Amendments
If any bylaw amendments are proposed, they’re required to be submitted to PRSA at least 90 days before the Leadership Assembly. The proposed amendments are sent to delegates at least 60 days before the meeting. Teresa and I will review the proposed amendments and share the information with the board and our members. We will take into consideration your feedback, and we will deliberate and vote at the Leadership Assembly on Saturday, Nov. 12.
If you have any questions about PRSA delegates, the bylaw amendment process or Leadership Assembly, please contact Teresa or me. We’ll be happy to answer any questions.
