The Role of Chapter Delegates - Your Voice to National
The role of a chapter delegate is an important one but not fully understood. In fact, this topic was discussed by chapter and national leaders at the Leadership Assembly in Nashville last fall. Representation is important, and the role of chapter delegates is to be your voice to PRSA National and represent the interests of our chapter and its members on important issues and policies. One such important issue that leaders spent much time on is the growing use of AI in our profession.
Last October, the annual Leadership Assembly met in Nashville and much of the discussion and working groups were focused on ethical challenges our profession is seeing — especially with the emergence of artificial intelligence. Delegates and National Leadership agree that the use of AI in our profession is growing and the ethical impact cannot be ignored. While we have a Code of Ethics that provides a structure to nearly all circumstances we face in our profession, technology once again is changing the landscape. We need to adapt quickly to protect the integrity of the public relations profession. An important tool recently introduced by PRSA National is guidance on the ethical use of AI in writing. The white paper can be downloaded here.
As this important issue continues to be studied and discussed by PRSA National, more will be shared on best practices and any training opportunities that are available.
Stay tuned for information coming in the next few months on ethics-related programming.
