News from National – In Case You Missed It

Have you ever considered serving our members and the profession at the national level? If so, you will be interested to know that the application process for the 2025 Board of Directors is now open. The responsibility of a board member is to help guide and oversee PRSA’s strategic vision and goals, as well as membership growth and fiscal oversight. PRSA Iowa is currently represented by Jason Sprenger who is the Midwest District Board member. Jason is in his first of two terms. Currently, applications are open for three officer positions and one at-large position. More information can be found on the PRSA website

As we continue to monitor the impact of AI on the profession, there was an interesting blurb in the latest issue of Strategies and Tactics. According to a report by CNBC, companies are using AI to monitor employee chatter. While the purpose is to monitor employee sentiment (so says the CEO of the platform provider), this poses numerous ethical quandaries for our field and the individuals managing internal communications. If you haven't already examined the newly issued guidelines on AI usage, please review them and engage in crucial discussions with your organization's leadership regarding the ethical application of AI.

PRSA National – as well as Ryan and myself – will continue to watch how AI is changing how we communicate.
